Still others will travel far and wide to visit a destination that typifies the holiday maybe even one thats straight out of a horror film to soak in the atmosphere and give themselves goose bumps. Thats why Ive decided to have a little fun with this post, devoting some time to a few of my favorite, affordable scary movie destinations. These locales might scare you with their Halloween festivities, but the hotel prices wont. Here are five cities that offer a combination of Halloween hotel deals and scary movie landmarks that shouldnt be missed: 1Burkittsville, Md. The Blair Witch Project Haxan Films/Artisan Entertainment I talked about Baltimore, Maryland in my fall foliage piece , but Burkittsville, about an hour outside of the city, was the outdoor setting for The Blair Witch Project.
Source: http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2013/10/15/scary-movie-deal-destinations/
Ozzie Smith is one of my favorite baseball players of all time. Ozzie Smith was a pretty okay hitter, but is considered to be the greatest defensive shortstop of all time, which is why Ozzie Smith is in the Baseball Hall of Fame. We are told by Bob Costas' voiceover (watching this scene again, you can actually hear the contempt in Costas' delivery; I assume he used the same contempt when he endorsed his check from 20th Century Fox) that Ozzie Smith has been on a power surge as of late which means that we, as the audience, should be nervous because Ozzie Smith just might hit another home run. This is ludicrous. Ozzie Smith hit a grand total of 28 home runs. Not in any one particular season, mind you, but from Smith's lifetime total over 19 years in the Major Leagues. The year that The Scout takes place, 1994, Smith had hit three home runs.
Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-ryan/the-dumbest-baseball-movie_b_4109604.html
The film played for 26 weeks and earned an eye-popping $255m domestic, all while winning Sandra Bullock an Oscar. Of course, her other 2009 release was the blink-and-you miss it flop All About Steve, making Bullock the first person to win an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year (she accepted both in person). After that, personal issues that Id rather not dwell on (adopting a son and divorcing her adulterous husband) kept her mostly offscreen for two four years, aside from a glorified cameo inExtremely Loud and Incredibly Close. This year Sandra Bullock returned to the screen with a vengeance. Sandra Bullock She and Melissa McCarthy powered The Heat, an R-rated female-centric buddy cop comedy, to $39 million, another record opening weekend for Ms. Bullock.
Source: http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2013/10/16/sandra-bullock-is-now-one-of-hollywoods-biggest-movie-stars/
Woody Allen's next movie: 'Magic in the Moonlight'
"Addiction is a loaded word and has negative connotations," explained Relativity's President of Theatrical Marketing Russell Schwartz. "But 'Don Jon' was not only tighter, it conveyed a feeling that was much more in line with the movie's character and that made it easier to market." A unique title - like James Cameron's 2009 "Avatar" - is often the goal, but how much that title mattered to the all-time box office topper is a matter of debate. It works the other way, too. When last year's "Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure" became one of the biggest bombs of all time, how much did that title have to do with it? It's important to remember that the process doesn't take place in a vacuum.
Source: http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=834531
Lee said even as his film drew elements from the event and from essays written by the Koreans after they were released, "God's Eye View" is not about the Afghan event itself. Nor does it attempt to defend Christian missionary works, he said. "It is based on the Saemmul Church event. But I tried to use the event as a tool to raise interesting questions about religious conviction and apostasy," Lee said in an interview. He said the inspiration for his latest work was "Silence," a novel by Japanese author Shusaku Endo about a missionary enduring persecution in 17th century Japan. Lee said some scenes in the movie, such as moments when a character is forced to choose one between religious belief and other people's lives, have a nod to the novel.
Source: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/movie-harkens-07-skorean-abductions-taliban-20583625

What Are the Best Movies Coming Out This Fall? As suggested by San Francisco venture capitalist Hunter Walk, the idea is to set aside a handful of screening rooms as cell-phone-friendly wi-fi zones, so that moviegoers who like multitasking while they watch movies can "look up the cast list online, tweet out a comment, talk to others while watching or just work on something else while Superman played in the background," Walk wrote on his blog . "Instead of driving people like me away from the theater, why not just segregate us into environments which meet our needs," Walk continued. "I'd love to watch Pacific Rim in a theater with a bit more light, wi-fi, electricity outlets and a second screen experience. Don't tell me I'd miss major plot points while scrolling on my iPad it's a movie about robots vs. monsters.
Source: http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/news/should-movie-theaters-allow-texting-20131015
Woody Allen has revealed the title of his next movie: "Magic in the Moonlight." The prolific director isn't saying yet what the film is about. But it is set in the South of France and, judging by images released from the production, appears to be set sometime in the 1930s. (The title may be a reference Kim Kardashian s boobs to Dean Martin's romantic ballad "Magic Is the Moonlight.") PHOTOS: Billion-dollar movie club Allen's latest film, "Blue Jasmine," is still in theaters and has made has made a robust $31.7 million domestically and generated critical praise for lead actress Cate Blanchett . The French location of "Magic in the Moonlight" returns Allen Kim Kardashian Ray J tape to the site of his late-career hit, 2011's "Midnight in Paris," which grossed $56.8 million domestically.
